PERFORMANCE:
Christina DeMaio is a Voice Educator and Vocalist based on the New Hampshire Seacoast. Christina earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance (Classical) from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. A versatile vocalist, she actively performs a diverse array of repertoire. Musical Theatre and Operatic highlights include: "Perón's Mistress" in Evita, “Dido” in Dido and Aeneas, “Fantine” in Les Miserables, “Prince Orlofsky" in Die Fledermaus, and “The Witch” in Into the Woods.
Christina has been performing from a young age, joining her family in their Classic Country & Western Swing band, Gunsmoke, where she developed her deep love of harmony singing. Christina currently performs with her friends and colleagues at St. John's Episcopal Church in their resident Americana ensemble, Chapel Street Band. For several years, she was also the Soprano Vocalist in World Vocal Trio, HOME PORT, and can be heard on their album "HOME PORT 3."
Christina is a former Young Artist at Asheville Lyric Opera. She has appeared as a soloist with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, Nashua Choral Society, and various ensembles throughout the Northeast. Christina is also a seasoned Cantor, Chorister, and Section Leader, serving at many Parish communities. She is currently the Alto Choral Scholar at St. John's in Portsmouth, NH.
TEACHING:
Christina is a private voice teacher and independent studio owner. Christina DeMaio Voice Studio LLC is comprised of child, teen, and avocational adult singers. Since 2015, Christina has taught private lessons, audition group classes, audition coachings, and workshops at several arts and theatre organizations throughout the Northeast.
Christina has also served as a vocal coach and music director for several youth theatre companies, including The Pine Street Players in Exeter, NH, where her studio is based. She is also a proud member of the Youth Music Team at St. John's in Portsmouth.
Christina is proud to be the Director of Faculty Development at Vielka's Young Singers Academy, an international voice training program based in NYC. Under the ongoing mentorship of founder Vielka Kelly-Weiss, Christina passionately employs The Vielka Method™ in her teaching, a comprehensive and accessible approach to vocal technique, music literacy, and song study designed specifically for young singers, applicable to all ages.
Christina is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Granite State Chapter of NATS. In February, 2024, she became a recipient of NATS' Joan Frey Boytim Award for Independent Teachers. Christina also completed the NATS-NYC Mentor Teacher Program in 2020, observing and learning from master teachers in Musical Theatre voice.
When she is not singing or teaching, Christina is a passionate mental health advocate. She is an official advocate for the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and the Executive Board President of its regional affiliate, OCD New Hampshire.
